Spinning Back Clique: Adesanya’s greatness, Leon Edwards’ next move, Claressa Shields’ debut and more
Check out the latest edition of “Spinning Back Clique,” MMA Junkie’s weekly show that takes a quick spin through the biggest topics in mixed martial arts.
This week, our panel weighs in on Israel Adesanya’s greatness as UFC middleweight champion, what’s next for Leon Edwards, Claressa Shields’ MMA debut, and more. Host “Gorgeous” George Garcia of MMA Junkie Radio is joined by co-host Brian “Goze” Garcia, along with MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn and Nolan King.
- This past Saturday, UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, defeated Marvin Vettori. This was his third title defense. In your eyes, can he and/or will he surpass Anderson Silva as the greatest UFC middleweight champion ever?
- Brandon Moreno defeated Deiveson Figueiredo to win the UFC flyweight belt. Can he become the Mexican star UFC has been waiting for? Will he be able to keep the title long enough to make it happen?
- In the featured bout of the night at UFC 263, Leon Edwards defeated Nate Diaz, but not before dodging some bullets at the end of round five. The UFC has talked Usman vs. Covington for a few months. Should that still be the plan, or did “Rocky” do enough to get the title shot?
- Yaroslav Amasov defeated Douglas Lima this past Friday at Bellator 260. What would you like to see next for Lima?
- We got our first glimpse of Claressa Shields this past Thursday at PFL 2021 Week 4. What were your thoughts on her performance and what’s her ceiling? Can she get to Kayla Harrison’s level?
