At UFC 262, Ronaldo Souza suffered a nasty arm injury in a loss to Andre Muniz.

Souza (26-10 MMA, 9-7 UFC) was trapped in a very tight armbar by Muniz (21-4 MMA, 3-0 UFC) that resulted in a fractured humerus and a first-round technical submission loss since he was unable to continue. He never tapped, in fact, he showed little reaction to the fracture other than looking down at his arm that was obviously bending in ways it should not.

“Jacare” recently underwent surgery four weeks ago to repair the injured right arm and he provided an update on his Instagram story on Thursday.

“The doctor said the alignment is perfect,” Souza said in Portuguese via paraphrased translation. “I can move in any direction without any problem. I can even wash dishes.”

The X-ray shows what appears to be two metal rods and at least 15 screws inside of his surgically repaired right humerus.

Throughout the video posts that have since expired from his feed, “Jacare” was in great spirits during the visit, visibly excited with the news that his doctor gave him.

“He told me I have to avoid weights. We’ll do a follow-up in one month,” Souza explained.

Although his fighting future is unclear following the completion of his UFC contract, and no available timeframe to be cleared to return to action, Souza seems to be healing well which is most important for now.
