2021 PFL 6: Does Brandon Sayles have another upset in the works?

Brandon Sayles was a big underdog in his first fight of the 2021 PFL season, and while his win didn’t come without hiccups, it was a win nonetheless.

Brandon Sayles (6-1) took out Mohammed Usman, brother of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, with a second-round rear-naked choke in May. The win was worth 5 points in the PFL heavyweight standings and came with Usman nearly a 6-1 favorite at some online sportsbooks.

Friday at 2021 PFL 6, Sayles again is the underdog. Denis Goltsov (26-6) is a 3-1 favorite in their fight on the main card. Goltsov and Bruno Cappelozza sit atop the standings with 6 points each, and Sayles is right behind them.

While it’s possible Sayles still could make the four-man playoffs even with a loss, a win, no matter how it comes, would guarantee him a shot at the $1 million postseason prize.

Sayles discusses his win over Usman, Friday’s matchup, and his plan to take Goltsov out in the preview video above.

2021 PFL 6 takes place at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. The main card airs on ESPN2 following prelims on ESPN+.
