Longtime UFC lightweight veteran Kevin Lee, who also does work at 170 pounds, recently got a giant tattoo on his head (see the video here). Not only will the newly-minted “helmet” remind “The Motown Phenom” that he’s a battle-tested warrior, it will also help elevate his brand in the second half of his MMA career.

“I tatted the helmet on me to remind me what I actually do,” Lee told MMA Fighting. “It will be something that follows me for the rest of my life. I spent the prime of my life as a warrior. So it just made sense to kind of remind myself everyday, it’s hard to not finish that extra run. It’s hard not to finish that extra round when you’ve got a fucking helmet tatted on you.”

It’s too bad Lee’s tattoo didn’t make it into this video featuring Dana White.

“As the restart of my career, not a lot of people have seen me with this so I feel like it’s going to elevate me in all different aspects,” Lee continued. “People are noticing me now. A lot more than even when I was at the peak, I felt like in my career. After the first couple fights with this tatted on me, I feel like it’s going to take it to a new level.”

I guess that’s one way to get noticed.

The other way is to replicate Lee’s knockout performance against Gregor Gillespie in late 2019, something he failed to do against Charles Oliveira at UFC Brasilia the following March. The 18-6 “Motown Phenom” will have a chance to right the ship opposite Sean Brady at UFC 264 on July 10.
