Lance Palmer explains why 2021 PFL 6 fight will be much different than season-opening loss

Two-time PFL featherweight champion Lance Palmer admits one thing about his 2021 season opener.

“I wasn’t there. I wasn’t present in the cage,” Palmer said.

Palmer lost a unanimous decision to Bubba Jenkins this past April at PFL 1, putting his back against the wall heading into Friday’s must-win fight with Movlid Khaybulaev at PFL 6. As for why Palmer wasn’t so interested in his first bout of the year, he said it’s because he’d just left his wife and newborn baby.

Khaybulaev, it seems, has his undivided attention.

“I feel that I was missing the fun or the joy of fighting leading up to my last fight,” Palmer said. “This fight with Movlid is very exciting for me. He has a great style of fighting, and he comes in and attacks. That’s what I want to do in this fight, is meet him in the middle and put the pressure on him and see who can break first.”

PFL 6 takes place Friday at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. The main card airs on ESPN 2 following prelims on ESPN+.
