Myles Jury’s ultimate goal is still a world title, but he won’t let championship credentials define him heading into Bellator 261.

Once a promising UFC prospect, Myles Jury is now making his way up the Bellator ladder, but he won’t a world title define his mettle as a competitor.

Jury (19-5) will face Sidney Outlaw (15-4) at Bellator 261 taking place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. on Fri., June 25 via Showtime. It is a pivotal lightweight clash pitting contenders Jury (no. 4) vs. Outlaw (no. 6). While “Fury” Jury has the Bellator Lightweight title in view, it’s not the be-all-end-all.

“I want to be the best fighter I can be. The end goal is always the world title. But I’ve been learning as I’ve been going if the stars align and that comes up, great. But that doesn’t define who I am as a competitor,” Jury told MMAmania.com. “I love going out there, I love performing, I love the feeling of getting in that cage. That experience I what I was put on the earth to do.

“When I was young and I set out on this path to be an MMA fighter, I sort of burned the boats and left myself with no other option,” he continued. “I have no fallback degree and no inheritance. This is basically my only option. Looking back 13-years-ago, it hasn’t been easy but I’m grateful that I made those choices and committed to this craft. As a career, I feel very blessed to have accomplished what I have accomplished. Not only in the cage but also financially. So I’m very blessed.”

Bellator 261 takes place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. on Fri., June 25 on Showtime. The card is headlined by an interim Bellator Heavyweight championship fight between ranked contenders Timothy Johnson and Valentin Moldavsky.
