Mousasi vs Salter Title Fight Headlines Bellator 264

Gegard Mousasi will defend his Bellator MMA Middleweight title when he faces off against John Salter in the main event of Bellator 264 on Aug. 13, 2021. The promotion announced the matchup during the Bellator 261 event.

Mousasi won the vacant 185-pound strap in Oct. 2020, defeating current Welterweight champion Douglas Lima in the main event of Bellator 250 via unanimous decision, giving “The Dreamcatcher” his second straight win.

Mousasi has already enjoyed a reign — albeit a short one — as the promotion’s Middleweight king before eventually coughing up the title to Rafael Lovato Jr. at Bellator 223 in June 2019.

Salter, meanwhile, has won three straight fights and is 8-1 overall under the Bellator banner. His impressive run has been good enough to earn him the No. 1 spot at 185 pounds and his first ever shot at winning a major world title.
