Soren Bak hopes ‘bucket list’ Bellator Denmark is one step closer to reality after Bellator 261

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Soren Bak is two-for-two inside the Bellator cage as he continues his march toward bringing the promotion to his home country for the first time.

Denmark’s Bak (14-1 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) beat Bobby Lee by unanimous decision in the Bellator 261 preliminary card opener Friday. The 15-minute affair saw both men have their moments with submission attempts and heavy grappling. Bak saw a lot of similarities between the two fighters.

“He kind of reminds me of myself a few years back,” Bak told MMA Junkie at a post-fight news conference. “I believe he’s got great things in his career future.”

While still perhaps a few fights until he becomes a lightweight contender, Bak thinks that one day when COVID-19 restrictions ease, Bellator will host a show in Denmark with him and countryman Mads Burnell atop the bill.

“That’s definitely on my bucket list,” Bak said. “(Let’s) get Bellator MMA back home to Copenhagen. I know my good colleague from Denmark, Mads Burnell, has got a fight coming up, as well, I believe.”

Bellator 261 took place Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena. The main card aired on Showtime after prelims on MMA Junkie.
