UFC Updates ‘Official’ Rankings

The UFC rankings have been updated to reflect the winners and losers of UFC Vegas 30, which took place inside APEX last Sat. night (June 26, 2021) in Las Vegas. Since Ciryl Gane (No. 3) was already ranked two spots above Alexander Volkov (No. 5), there won’t be any forward movement for “Bon Gamin” after defeating “Drago.”

Similarly, Ovince Saint Preux was not ranked at 265 pounds, so Tanner Boser won’t be able to make his Top 15 debut following last weekend’s controversial co-main event victory. In fact, there wasn’t much movement in any of the weight classes, no doubt a reflection of the UFC Vegas 30 fight card, which was light on top talent.

Here’s how UFC compiles its “official” rankings:

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
