Zhalgas Zhumagulov and Jerome Rivera faced off earlier tonight (Sat., July 10, 2021) at UFC 264 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Zhumagulov wound up strangling his foe in the very first round.

Early on, things were not going well for Zhumagulov! Rivera looked far bigger, and he was using that range advantage well with heavy kicks. However, a left hand from Zhumagulov stunned his opponent, creating the opening for a deep guillotine choke. Rivera’s neck was all twisted up, forcing the tap.

This was Zhumagulov’s first victory in three trips to the Octagon. However, it’s worth-noting that his previous losses were closely contested, and they showed real potential. Fortunately, UFC gave him another chance tonight, and he was able to capitalize in a major way!
