Despite Conor McGregor bringing out old antics this time around for the trilogy fight at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier, things may not be as they seem behind the scenes.

Throughout the build-up during UFC 264 fight week, we’ve seen a more animated and perhaps angrier version of McGregor than what was on display at UFC 257. Having been on the scene for many years witnessing the Irishman during fight week, UFC reporter Megan Olivi says away from the cameras, McGregor has been the same person she has seen many times before.

“Behind the scenes, he’s been the same old, same guy that we’ve seen fight in and fight out,” Olivi stated. “I think he was pretty chill compared to what we’ve seen on stage or in interviews.”

Poirier, on the other hand, has been the same whether or not the cameras are rolling, according to Olivi. “Dustin’s been the same guy I feel like since the WEC,” Olivi stated.

Despite the differences in approach with the media that the main eventers may be showing, at the end of the day, Olivi believes they may be frustrated with media obligations and are ready to just get in the Octagon and finish off this trilogy.

“You can tell though that they are just literally counting the seconds until they fight,” Olivi said.
