Poirier’s next fight will be for the 155 pound belt and sportsbooks are picking him to unseat current champ Oliveira.

Dustin Poirier just won his second fight against Conor McGregor in a row and already people are looking forward to his next bout against UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that Poirier would fight for the title next, and it looks like sportsbooks like what they’re seeing from “The Diamond” lately because they have him a favorite over the new 155 pound champion. In odds just released by BetOnline.ag, the lines sit with Dustin Poirier at -180 and Charles Oliveira at +155.

The disrespect to the champ!

Oliveira won the vacant UFC lightweight championship with a second round TKO win over Michael Chandler at UFC 262 in May of 2021. That win came after an impressive 8 fight win streak that spanned back to 2018, a nearly unheard of feat in a division as tough as lightweight. But his latest wins over Kevin Lee, Tony Ferguson, and Chandler apparently aren’t earning him as much cred as you might think with the bookies.

Dustin Poirier is now best known for his two big wins over Conor McGregor, but barring that one sided mauling at the hands of Khabib Nurmagomedov in September of 2019 he’s been nearly unbeatable at 115. He also holds impressive wins over Dan Hooker, Max Holloway, Eddie Alvarez, and Justin Gaethje. Oliveira may have the streak, but Poirier has beaten the cream of the crop at 155.

No timeline has been set for a title fight but reports have Oliveira hoping for a December return. Who are you picking to win, Maniacs?
