Floyd Mayweather wins big after betting on Dustin Poirier to beat Conor McGregor at UFC 264
Floyd Mayweather is still keeping a close eye on the MMA world, especially when an old opponent competes.
The former multiple-time boxing world champion put down $50,000 on Dustin Poirier to beat Conor McGregor in their highly-anticipated trilogy bout in the main event of Saturday’s UFC 264 in Las Vegas.
And for Mayweather’s luck, Poirier came through defeating McGregor via TKO. The UFC star suffered a leg injury where he was deemed unfit to continue fighting. Prior to the injury, Poirier was dominating the fight with his grappling and ground-and-pound.
The $50,000 bet paid Mayweather a return of a little over $35,700.

Both Mayweather and McGregor are no strangers. The two combat sports stars had a rivalry that led to a boxing match back in 2017, which became of the biggest events in combat sports history. Mayweather stopped McGregor, defeating the Irishman via TKO in round 10. The two have flirted with a potential rematch since and taken shots at each other online.
