An interesting debate out of this past weekend’s UFC 264 has been the stoppage in the fight between Sean O’Malley and Kris Moutinho.
O’Malley, probably as expected, outclassed the newcomer who took the fight on 10 days’ notice, but Moutinho showed incredible toughness as he absorbed a plethora of strikes and refused to go away, though O’Malley eventually won by TKO with 27 seconds to go in Round 3. Even though Moutinho wasn’t down or out, it appeared to be a mercy stoppage by referee Herb Dean. But again, only 27 seconds remained,
Moutinho already has voiced his displeasure with Dean stopping it unnecessarily. What do we think? Was this a good or bad stoppage? Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of George Garcia, Nolan King and Matthew Wells answer that question with host John Morgan.
