Invicta FC 44 heads to pay-per-view, features two title fights at Aug. 27 event

Invicta FC returns to pay-per-view for the first time in eight years for next month’s “Invicta FC 44: A New Era.”

Promotion officials today announced the event, as well as the broadcast plans.

“I’m excited for our athletes to showcase their skills on pay-per-view again,” Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp stated. “These title fights feature some of the most talented women in mixed martial arts, and I can’t wait to watch these amazing matchups.”

A pair of vacant title fights headline the card, which takes place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan.

In the main event, Emily Ducote faces Danielle Taylor for the vacant strawweight title, while the co-main event sees Lisa Verzosa vs. Taneisha Tennant for the vacant bantamweight title. Prelims will air live on AXS TV and stream on Invicta FC’s YouTube channel, while the main card is available on Fite TV for $19.99.

An eight-time Bellator veteran, Ducote (9-6) has found new life since leaving the promotion, dropping down a division to strawweight and going 3-1 in her four appearances since the move. She’ll now take on five-time UFC veteran Taylor (11-5), who has gone 2-1 since her octagon run, earning wins over former WSOF strawweight champion Jessica Aguilar and current UFC strawweight Montserrat Conejo.

Verzosa (6-1) is already a six-time Invicta veteran whose lone professional loss thus far came via split decision to two-time UFC veteran Julija Stoliarenko. She now takes on Tennant (3-1), who looks to rebound from the first loss of her pro career, suffered in a Dana White’s Contender Series bout this past September.
