Covington Predicts Woodley Vs. Paul

Colby Covington says a whole lot of things, and very rarely are they complimentary. His brash comments have earned him the ire of many fans, foes, and even team mates, but his ability to piss people off seemingly played a role in securing his rematch vs. Kamaru Usman, which is scheduled to go down at UFC 268 on Nov. 6, 2021.

In a rare turn of events, however, Covington is backing Tyron Woodley to upset Jake Paul in their upcoming boxing match. “Chaos” spent literal years trashing “T-Wood” at every single possible opportunity, but perhaps his victory opposite the former champion has softened his stance? Covington broke down the match up a bit while speaking to James Lynch.

“I think Woodley could do it. I think he could land a knockout punch and get it done,” Covington answered (via Adam Martin).

As Covington elaborated further, however, his response became less a compliment to Woodley’s knockout prowess and more of an opportunity to knock an easy (and potentially lucrative) target in Paul. Covington explained that through his insider information, he’s very aware of the limitations in Paul’s skill and training.

“I’ve had some guys at my gym, Colby Covington Inc. and MMA Masters, that have went to train with Jake Paul in Miami. They’ve all kind of said the same information, that they went there, they exposed him, they made him look bad,” Covington said. “Of course, they turned the cameras off and they’re not taking pictures that day and they never invite these guys back because Jake ‘The Snake’ Paul only wants kids that he can beat up and knock out and boost his ego and his confidence. He doesn’t actually want guys that are going to push him in the gym and make him better, because, like we’ve said before, he’s not a real fighter. He’s a little Disney star.”

Woodley and Paul are scheduled to throw down on Showtime pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., Aug. 29, 2021.
