Gloria de Paula wants to reverse the image of her octagon debut loss against Cheyanne Buys at UFC on ESPN 28.
De Paula (5-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) lost her promotional debut to Jinh Yu Frey by unanimous decision in March, but sees Saturday’s bout with Buys (5-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the ESPN-televised card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas as a chance to get herself right back on track.
Not only is de Paula predicting she’ll get her hand raised, but she thinks there’s a good chance it gets deemed the “Fight of the Night” once the card is over.
“She’s really aggressive, and I’m aggressive, too,” de Paula told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Thursday’s UFC on ESPN 28 media day. “I believe this is going to be a really exciting fight and I believe this has the potential to be the ‘Fight of the Night.’”
