Niklas Stolze seeks statement at UFC on ESPN 28: ‘People don’t know me yet’

Niklas Stolze hopes to earn himself some recognition with U.S. fans at UFC on ESPN 28.

Stolze (12-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will return to action on Saturday when he meets Jared Gooden (17-6 MMA, 0-2 UFC) in a welterweight bout on the ESPN-televised card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It’s his first fight in more than a year, and his second in the octagon after falling short in his promotional debut.

The German fighter wasn’t happy with what he showed in a unanimous decision defeat to Ramazan Emeev at UFC on ESPN 14. Now he sees a big opportunity to turn the tide in his favor with a main card win in his first contest on American soil.

“No pressure at all,” Stolze told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Thursday’s UFC on ESPN 28 media day. “I’m just excited because I really want to go in there, show what I’m capable of because people don’t know me yet, and they should know after this fight.”
