Former UFC flyweight champion Nicco Montano (4-3) was released by the promotion after she failed to make weight for her Wu Yanan fight as part of the UFC Vegas 33 lineup last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That’s according to MMA Fighting.

Montano’s recent scale fail marked the third time The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 26 champ was pulled from a fight card due to weight cutting woes.

“I think that no matter what weight class you put her at, she seems to have a hard time making weight,” promotion president Dana White told UFC Arabia. “This might not be the sport for her. Look at Nicco and how many times it’s happened. Once that starts to happen, we get involved and say you know what, this isn’t working out.”

Montano, 32, has competed just once since making her debut in late 2017, a unanimous decision loss to fellow TUF champ Julianna Pena. Her jump to bantamweight did little to improve her chances of making weight and it seems UFC has run out of patience.

“Rolling with the punches,” Montano wrote on social media.
