Song Yadong: ‘I’m gonna use more of my grappling’ against Casey Kenney at UFC 265

HOUSTON – Song Yadong says he’s looking to mix things up against Casey Kenney.

Yadong (16-5-1 MMA, 5-1-1 UFC) will aim to rebound from his first octagon loss when he takes on Kenney (16-3-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the main card opener of UFC 265 on Saturday.

Though he’s had success since joining the UFC roster, notching four bonuses along the way, the Team Alpha Male fighter wants to show a different side against Kenney.

“Last time I was a slow starter, so this time I’m gonna pick up the pace even more,” Yadong told MMA Junkie through an interpreter at Wednesday’s UFC 265 media day. “I’m gonna use more of my grappling because my grappling is awesome, as well, but I was relying on my striking too much.”

He continued, “Timing will be crucial in this fight because my opponent is well rounded, and he has a good pace.”

UFC 265 takes place Saturday at Toyota Center in Houston. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN 2 and early prelims on ESPN+.
