Yawn! Media Tired Of Paul Fighting Little Men, Old Farts

As predicted, those 15 minutes are almost up.

Social media superstar Jake Paul turned the combat sports world upside down after scoring mega-paydays to box aging athletes and faux-celebrities on pay-per-view (PPV), helping legitimate pugilists like Mike Tyson reach a younger demographic in the process.

Which is why the un-retired “Iron” man considers Paul the uncrowned YouTube champion.

UFC President Dana White, however, believes Paul has worn out his welcome after refusing to fight real competition, which tells you what the Las Vegas fight boss thinks about Tyron Woodley’s chances when he takes himself off the clearance rack on Aug. 29 in Cleveland.

“The media isn’t really following him as much as they did in the beginning,” White told Full Send Podcast (transcribed by Farah Hannoun). “The schtick is getting old. I think for him to get the media back, he’s gonna have to fight somebody. They’re tired of the schtick. ‘Hey, it’s me, I weigh 190, and I want to fight these guys that weigh 170, 155, and they’re wrestling, and they’re 40 fucking years old, and they haven’t won a fight in three fucking years.’ If he wants to be taken seriously now by the real media, I think he needs to fight a real fight.”

Paul, still just 24, is 3-0 as a professional boxer with three knockouts. After making his debut against fellow digital creator AnEsonGib, the former Triller headliner laid waste to retired NBA star Nate Robinson and UFC welterweight veteran Ben Askren.

None of those names will be striking fear into the hearts of professional boxers but Woodley was widely-seen as a step up in competition, despite his struggles in MMA. The 39 year-old “Chosen One” parted ways with UFC after losing four straight.
