Scale Fail Blows Up Bellator 265 Co-Main Event

Bellator MMA

UFC Vegas 34 isn’t the only event losing fights scheduled for this weekend. Earlier today (Thurs., Aug. 19, 2021), Jay-Jay Wilson missed weight for his scheduled co-main event against Adam Borics, which was set to go down at Featherweight.

Wilson came in four pounds heavy for the scheduled fight, which has now been canceled as a result of the scale fail. For those keeping count at home, that is now the third time in his last four fights that Wilson has failed to make weight, all under the Bellator banner.

How this latest blunder affects the undefeated (8-0) fighter’s status with the promotion remains to be seen, but for now both he and Borics are off the card while Logan Storley and Dante Schiro have been promoted to the co-main event. According to MMA Junkie, Borics will be paid his show money.

Bellator 265 — which goes down this Friday night (Aug. 20) inside Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., — will feature a Heavyweight fight between the No. 3 ranked fighter in the division, Cheick Kongo, taking on longtime veteran Sergei Kharitonov.

MMAmania.com will deliver coverage of Bellator 265 tomorrow evening on Showtime. To check out the latest Bellator MMA-related news and notes be sure to hit up our comprehensive news archive right here.
