UFC on ESPN 29: Parker Porter striving to get game-changing bonus with win over Chase Sherman

LAS VEGAS – Parker Porter is looking to change his life with a bonus-worthy performance against Chase Sherman.

While Sherman (15-7 MMA, 3-6 UFC) didn’t take too kindly to Porter’s goal, Porter (11-6 MMA, 1-1 UFC) says it’s strictly business when the pair throws down on Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 29 main card.

“There’s nothing personal,” Porter told MMA Junkie during media day at the UFC Apex. “It’s not that I’m just thinking I’m going to score a bonus check off of him, it’s we’re all trying to get that bonus check. That’s big money for most of us coming into this, so it’s a game changer and we’re all striving to get that.”

Win or lose, both men have rarely gone the distance in their pro MMA careers, which Porter expects to most likely result in a finish when they fight.

“Anybody at heavyweight, anybody over 200 pounds can knock you out at any given time,” Porter said. “I think stylistically, we’re going to match up well for a really entertaining fight, and I don’t think it’s going to go to a decision like it did in my last fight or in his last fight. We’re both going to come out there and look for that finish.”
