Bea Malecki takes UFC on ESPN 29 knockout loss in stride, shares an update on condition from the hospital

The first loss of Bea Malecki’s career was a rough one on Saturday evening.

In her first fight of the year, Malecki (2-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) stepped in the octagon to face Josiane Nunes at UFC on ESPN 29. Unfortunately, her opponent would end her night early with just a few seconds remaining in the first round after a hard left hand sent her to the canvas.

The bantamweight bout served as a preliminary contest that aired on ESPN+.

Malecki was transported to the hospital after the fight for precautionary reasons due to the knockout.

The Swede didn’t seem to take the loss too hard as she shared an update on her condition for her supporters from her hospital bed via Instagram:

Thanks for all the love guys! My first knock out ever wow it really feels so weird to just dissapear. I didn’t see the punch at all! But it’s how the sport goes. Sometimes people get knocked out and this time it was me
Thank u @_antonias and @onewaykarate for doing this with me ❤ Love u guys to the moon and back!
Also thank you @josianenunes.ufc for sharing the octagon with me, Well deserved win!

“So, I didn’t think it was going to happen like this,” Malecki said during the video posted to social media. “My first KO (loss), and hopefully the last. I’m feeling good, just my elbow hurts, and my head hurts, so they want to check it, so I’m here in the hospital. Thank you guys for all the love.”

It appears that no serious injuries were sustained in the fight. To provide further context as to Malecki reacted to her loss after the fight, her training partner shared additional details via an Instagram story about what she did when she immediately left the cage.

Directly after the fight she hurried to the TV to see the replay and goes: “Haha wooow I got knocked the f*ck out. Well, sh*t happens!” So to all the people that worries about her, she is all fine!

Malecki suffered her first loss in the UFC, after having been successful in her two previous walks to the cage with a unanimous decision nod over Veronica Macedo and a second-round rear-naked choke submission of Duda Santana.
