UFC launches Rebuilding Together initiative, plans gym rebuilding involving Stipe Miocic

For former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, giving back to his communities isn’t foreign territory.

When he’s not competing inside a cage, Miocic works as a firefighter in the Cleveland area – but that’s not the only thing he’s doing to improve the wellbeing of his home state.

On Wednesday, the UFC in partnership with Modelo announced an initiative with Rebuilding Together, a leading national nonprofit in safe and healthy housing. Miocic will assist with the MMA community-targeted efforts, which include revitalizing Revolution Fight & Fitness in Euclid, Ohio.

“It’s awesome,” Miocic told MMA Junkie on Wednesday. “Modelo and the UFC partnered up with the Rebuilding Together organization. They’re going around the country and actually stopping first here in Cleveland. It’s actually my hometown, Euclid, (where) I was raised as a child. Revolution Fight & Fitness. They’re rehabbing gyms and making them better.”

The Ohio-based gym isn’t the only one the initiative will revamp. Combat sports facilities in Austin, Texas, Saratoga, N.Y., and Seattle will also receive the same treatment.

“I love giving back,” Miocic said. “I always say, as a child I was helped out between team sports, this, that, and the other. I just love to give back. If I can help someone out and make their day better or their gym better or just their life better, I’m down.”

Miocic, 39, does not currently have a fight on the books as he and his wife await the birth of their second child, expected in the coming days. However, Miocic plans to meet with the UFC in September and hopefully come to terms on their next fight.
