Amanda Nunes vs. Julianna Pena has a new battleground set for their championship clash — UFC 269.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Women’s Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena are expected to clash before the end of the year at UFC 269.

UFC 269 is scheduled to take place on Sat., Dec. 11 on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV). No venue or location has been publicly confirmed by the promotion. Nunes and Pena (No. 5) were initially set to fight at UFC 265 on Aug. 7; however, Nunes tested positive for COVID-19 and the fight was postponed. UFC confirmed the rescheduled fight on social media.

Nunes (21-4) lays claim to both the UFC Women’s Bantamweight and Women’s Featherweight titles. Arguably one of the greatest fighters in mixed martial arts (MMA) history, “Lioness” rides a 12-fight winning streak with finishes over Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Cris Cyborg, and Holly Holm (watch here), plus two decision wins against reigning UFC Women’s Flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Pena (10-4) is among the most promising fighters in the UFC Women’s Bantamweight division; however, she has struggled with activity. Pena will have fought nine times in eight years once she is locked in the cage with Nunes. She is 6-2 in her UFC tenure with wins over Sara McMann (watch highlights), Cat Zingano and Jessica Eyes. Her two losses in the promotion are to former UFC Women’s Featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie and Shevchenko.

Other bouts currently scheduled for UFC 269 include the flyweight debut of former UFC Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt against Kai Kara-France (No. 7), and a women’s flyweight fight pitting Gillian Robertson vs. Priscila Cachoeira.
