Mike Perry ‘would love to focus on his boxing,’ interested in fighting Tommy Fury

Mike Perry wants in on the boxing crossover craze

After watching the big Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley pay-per-view event on Sunday, where Paul outpointed the former UFC welterweight champion, Perry would like to lace up the gloves himself.

Perry (14-8 MMA, 7-8 UFC), who previously sparred with Paul, didn’t specifically call out the YouTube star. Instead, he’s eyeing a matchup with Tommy Fury, who defeated Anthony Taylor in a lackluster outing on the undercard.

I enjoyed the event overall. My mom invited us over and she cooked a bomb lasagna. We talked about the fighters walkout fits. Was a good time. Would love to focus on my boxing and be apart of the show. I’m down to stand and bang.

I wanna fight @tommytntfury.

Fury and Paul got into a backstage altercation after their fight, and it’s clear which direction the Brit is trying to go next. But after boxing an MMA fighter in Taylor, perhaps a matchup with Perry is not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Perry has one boxing match under his belt, a knockout loss in 2015 which took place a year before he made his octagon debut. “Platinum” also expressed interest in a matchup with Paul’s training partner, super middleweight J’Leon Love.

The #MmaVsBoxing spectacle overtaking the world right now. I would love to be apart of it. I’ve been preparing and we all know my chin has never been suspect while the only thing @JLeonLove has been taking to the chin lately is cheeseburgers. Next event for @Showtime? Fisted hand Winking face #FRM

Perry is currently under contract with the UFC, which almost certainly wouldn’t grant him the opportunity to box. Unsure if he has one or two fights left on his deal, the 29-year-old is just eager to compete as he aims to snap his two-fight losing skid.
