One week’s notice? Serghei Spivac isn’t fazed by short-notice UFC Fight Night 191 opportunity

LAS VEGAS – Serghei Spivac was in Russia when he got the call to step in on short notice to replace Sergey Pavlovich on one week’s notice.

He accepted the fight, packed his things, and traveled across the world of a showdown against Tom Aspinall, which is set for Saturday at UFC Fight Night 191 in Las Vegas.

“This is my first experience like this,” Spivac told MMA Junkie at Wednesday’s media day. “Let’s see after the fight and we’ll see how I’m going to feel. … (Right now, I’m) a little bit tired and I’d like to sleep.”

Aspinall (10-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) had mentioned his name on multiple occasions in the past. It never bothered Spivac (13-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC), but gave him a reason to step into the opportunity.

“I’d heard about that and this is why I’m here,” Spivac said. “No, (it didn’t bother me). This is just a sport.”

UFC Fight Night 191 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The entire card streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view. Check out Spivac’s full pre-fight news conference in the video above.
