LAS VEGAS – Chidi Njokuani is ready to carry the Njokuani UFC legacy.
The younger brother of longtime UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani, 32-year-old Chidi finally followed suit by earning a UFC contract Tuesday on Dana White’s Contender Series 38.
A Bellator, RFA and Legacy FC veteran, Njokuani’s experience was on full display when he earned a third-round TKO finish of Mario Sousa and having been around his brother for years, he’s primed for what’s to come.
“It was dope,” Njokuani said at the post-fight news conference. “It was a long time coming, full circle. My brother with his career in the UFC, he paved the way for me. I was with him in his corner for all of his fights, so I sat there, and I watched how he got down in this organization. I saw the professionalism. I saw what you had to do to stick around. And so it was just a matter of time before I got my call.”
He continued, “This was the whole game plan from the start. I didn’t expect it to take this long, but it’s dope. You don’t get that too often, two brothers that are both actually good and both can make it to the big leagues. We accomplished something with this.”
