Don’t expect to see former President of the United States Barack Obama doing commentary for a Triller boxing event anytime soon.

After it was announced that former POTUS Donald Trump will be stepping in for special commentating duties later tonight (Sat., Sept. 11, 2021) at the ‘Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort’ boxing event live on FITE TV pay-per-view (PPV) news surfaced that Obama was in talks to commentate a future event under the Triller banner.

This was according to Triller’s Ryan Kavanuagh, who told ESPN’s Mike Coppinger that the promotion was in talks with Obama’s Foundation to have the former president takeover microphone duties for an upcoming Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos fight card. Fight fans got excited and the rumor mill started to rapidly churn.

Sadly, Triller’s attempt to lock down Obama for a future commentating role doesn’t seem to be entirely accurate. According to New York Times Kevin Draper, a spokeswoman for the Obama Foundation says they have not spoken to Triller and that the idea of Obama being in talks to commentate Lopez vs. Kambosos is “inaccurate.”

Despite the Obama Foundation throwing a cold bucket of water on the idea of Obama commentating a Triller boxing event it doesn’t mean it will never happen. Nobody ever thought Trump would come out of the woodwork to commentate a Holyfield vs. Belfort boxing match so anything is possible in this day and age.

Mania will deliver LIVE coverage of the ‘Holyfield vs. Belfort’ FITE pay-per-view (PPV) main card RIGHT HERE, kicking off at 7 p.m. ET.
