Retired! Killer Carlos Condit Calls It A Career

Former UFC Interim Welterweight champion Carlos Condit has retired from the sport of mixed martial arts.

Carlos Condit is closing the book on a beloved mixed martial arts (MMA) career, inside and outside of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Condit, a former UFC Interim Welterweight champion, has retired. “The Natural Born Killer” gave his notice to the UFC, his manager Malki Kawa from First Round Management confirmed to MMA Fighting. Condit, 37, retires with 46 professional MMA fights to his name dating back to his pro debut on Sept. 6, 2002.

10 of Condit’s 19 fights went to a decision, including high-profile five-round title fights against Georges St-Pierre, Robbie Lawler and Nick Diaz. By contrast, his first 17 pro fights all ended in round number one. The Lawler fight, in particular, is ranked among the greatest fights of all time as the two men fought to a bloody, brutal split decision for the UFC Welterweight title.

“The Natural Born Killer” pieced together an impressive collection of scalps including wins over Diaz, Rory MacDonald, Dan Hardy, Frank Trigg, Martin Kampmann, Dong Hyun Kim, Thiago Alves and Matt Brown. The final World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) champion also shared the Octagon with championship-caliber athletes like Tyron Woodley, Johnny Hendricks and Jake Shields.

Condit’s pro career wraps with a 32-14 record and two wins in his last three fights. Most recently, he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Max Griffin at UFC 264 on July 10. No stranger to post-fight bonuses, Condit collected five Fight of the Night and two Knockout of the Night bonuses during his UFC run.
