After more than six years on the sidelines, ex-Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz will (finally) make his return to the Octagon for a middleweight rematch opposite former 170-pound titleholder Robbie Lawler on the UFC 266 pay-per-view (PPV) main card this Sat. night (Sept. 25, 2021) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Someone might want to share that information with the folks at ESPN.

Longtime combat sports mouthpiece Max Kellerman referred to Nick as “Nate Diaz” in the introduction to his pre-fight interview with promotion president Dana White, which is forgivable when you consider how often the welterweight Buffer stuffer makes headlines these days.

But then the network aired clips of Nate Diaz to help promote the Lawler fight at UFC 266. And for those of you who don’t know how the sausage is made, I can assure you the footage was seen by multiple people behind the scenes before making it to the airwaves.

Suddenly this scathing critique doesn’t sound so far off.

ESPN paid a lot of money for the rights to air UFC events but it’s clear the people charged with handling the operations part of that deal are still playing catch up. I guess that explains why White spent so many years trying to “smash” and “discredit” the “hacks” at ESPN.
