Ex-UFC featherweight Kai Kamaka rejoins Bellator roster

Kai Kamaka has returned to a familiar home.

After parting ways with the UFC in August, the 26-year-old Hawaiian announced Monday night that he has re-signed with Bellator.

A five-fight winning streak led to the UFC call in 2020, but Kamaka (8-4-1 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) went 1-2-1 in the octagon before departing the promotion. His lone UFC win came in his promotional debut, a “Fight of the Night” battle against Tony Kelley at UFC 252. Kamaka competed twice under the Bellator banner, scoring back-to-back unanimous decision wins over Shojin Miki and Spencer Higa in a one-year stretch from December 2018.

Kamaka last competed in July when he stepped in on short notice to face Danny Chavez at UFC on ESPN 28. He was deducted a point for an accidental groin strike and eye poke, which resulted in a majority draw.
