Tai Tuivasa gets Augusto Sakai as replacement opponent for UFC Fight Night on Nov. 20

Tai Tuivasa will still get a shot at a ranked opponent after his initial fight fell through.

Originally scheduled to face Walt Harris on Oct. 23, Tuivasa (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) has drawn a new opponent on a new date after Harris was forced out. Tuivasa will now face Augusto Sakai (15-3-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night on Nov. 20, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie after an initial report from Combate.

After dropping three straight bouts to Junior dos Santos, Blagoy Ivanov and Seghei Spivac, Tuivasa was able to rebound with three straight first-round knockout wins. The 28-year-old is coming off a “Performance of the Night” finish of Greg Hardy at UFC 264 in July.

Brazil’s Sakai will look to snap a two-fight losing skid. The Contender Series alum started off his UFC tenure at 4-0, including a knockout of Marcin Tybura, but has been finished in two straight bouts by Alistair Overeem and most recently Jairzinho Rozenstruik in June.

With the addition, the Nov. 20 lineup includes:

  • Joanne Calderwood vs. Alexa Grasso
  • Sean Brady vs. Michael Chiesa
  • Davey Grant vs. Adrian Yanez
  • Cody Durden vs. Aori Qileng
  • Cheyanne Buys vs. Loma Lookboonmee
  • Terrance McKinney vs. Fares Ziam
  • Rafa Garcia vs. Natan Levy
  • Azamat Murzakanov vs. Marcin Prachnio
  • Pat Sabatini vs. Gavin Tucker
  • Augusto Sakai vs. Tai Tuivasa
