DWCS 41 winner Daniel Zellhuber fears he broke his ankle, plans on moving camp to U.S.

LAS VEGAS – After punching his ticket to the UFC, Daniel Zellhuber wants to relocate to the U.S.

The 22-year-old Mexico native remained unbeaten when he outlasted previously undefeated Lucas Almeida in an absolute war at Dana White’s Contender Series 41 on Tuesday.

But Zellhuber (12-0) didn’t come out of the fight unscathed and will need to get his ankle checked out before he’s cleared to compete again.

“The doctor says I might have broken my ankle in one of the calf kicks he blocked,” Zellhuber told MMA Junkie and other reporters at the UFC Apex. “We actually don’t know. I need to go back to Mexico and do some X-rays, but now it’s a little bit banged, but nothing that’s not gonna pass.”

Zellhuber is planning a move to the U.S., but is still undecided on which team he will join.

“I want to fight a gym here in USA,” Zellhuber said. “I want to move my camp here in the U.S. We have some gyms in mind, but first I need to see my foot, and if it’s all right, just do all the paperwork, get my visa, come here and start training.”
