Macy Chiasson plots to silence ‘classless’ Aspen Ladd at UFC Fight night 193

Macy Chiasson has some bitterness toward Aspen Ladd going into their rescheduled bout at UFC Fight Night 193.

Chiasson (7-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) was supposed to fight Ladd (9-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) earlier this year, but was forced to withdraw on fight day due to a leg injury that had been pestering her for much of camp. The original plan was to push through after hurting herself several weeks out, ultimately the plug was pulled.

That didn’t make Ladd particularly happy, and she’s been critical of Chiasson since. Now they’ll settle the score in a women’s bantamweight bout Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.

“This is the fight that I want,” Chiasson told MMA Junkie and other reporters at UFC Fight Night 193 media day. “I want to fight this girl. I’m not ducking this girl. I’m ready to do this sh*t. I’m tired of hearing her flapping her lips. I’m ready to do it. If I didn’t want to fight this girl I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t have gone through all this sh*t. I’ve been in camp for five, six months. They can say whatever they want. People can say whatever they want. I’m here. I’m ready. I’m cutting weight. I’ll be there Saturday.

“She just has a lot of sh*t to say when she’s done a lot of sh*t. I know specifically, she’s definitely pulled out of fights the day of. It happens. I don’t disrespect someone for that. If you’re sick, injuries – it’s all good. It’s classless if you’re going to talk sh*t about that, especially if you’ve been in those shoes you’d understand. That’s where it gets a little personal for me.”

In addition to being completely healthy, Chiasson said she’s more prepared for a fight with Ladd after strategizing for consecutive training camps.
