Leah McCourt hopeful for quick turnaround in Dublin following Bellator 267 win

LONDON – Leah McCourt went 15 minutes with Jessica Borga in the Bellator 267 co-main event, yet came out relatively unscathed.

“I was happy I was able to bring out my striking and my standup, bring them out in the cage on the night,” McCourt told reporters including MMA Junkie in a post-fight news conference. “I’ve always known what I can do. It was nice just to just believe in myself a bit more.”

McCourt (6-1 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) defeated Borga (3-4 MMA, 1-2 BMMA) via unanimous decision to extend her winning streak to six. Given the momentum of victory and feeling healthy, McCourt indicated she’ll be ready the next time Bellator comes calling – even if it’s in a few weeks.

“I just say ‘yes’ to whoever Jude (Samuel) or Mike (Kogan) text me,” McCourt said. “I’ll agree. I don’t care, just as long as I get a fight. Hopefully, it’ll be in Dublin in four weeks. … Yeah, I’m not hurt. There’s a bit of sore left but I can definitely fight in four weeks in Dublin.

The event McCourt referenced, Bellator 270, takes place Nov. 5 at 3Arena in Dublin. The promotion’s first show in Ireland since Bellator 240 in February 2020 is headlined by bantamweights Patchy Mix and James Gallagher.

Bellator 267 took place Friday at SSE Arena. The main card aired on Showtime after prelims on MMA Junkie.
