Jared Gooden is eager to build so momentum at UFC Fight Night 194 on the heels of his first octagon triumph.
After losing back-to-back fights to begin his UFC tenure, Gooden (18-6 MMA, 1-2 UFC) rebounded earlier this year with a 68-second knockout of Niklas Stolze at UFC on ESPN 28 in July.
He’ll now try to even out his UFC record in Saturday’s welterweight co-headliner with Randy Brown (13-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC), which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Gooden said he never had doubts about his ability to compete with elite MMA talent, but the rough start put him in a bad spot. He thinks all that is behind him though, and is looking to show how good he is.
“Randy Brown is a great fighter,” Gooden told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 194 media day. “He’s a killer. He has six knockouts and five submissions, so he’s well-rounded. When fans see this fight I hope they know this is a knockout city fight. There’s no other way it’s going to end.”
