Phil Hawes out to KO Deron Winn, not prove who’s the better wrestler at UFC Fight Night 194

LAS VEGAS – Phil Hawes spoke to reporters at Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 194 media day.

Hawes (11-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) takes on Deron Winn in a middleweight contest at Saturday’s event at the UFC Apex. The two open up the main card of the event.

“The main thing you’ve gotta think about is he’s a tough wrestler and I’m a tough wrestler,” Hawes told MMA Junkie and other reporters at media day about his preparation for facing Winn. “We got tons of tough wrestlers at Sanford MMA, you know? So, it wasn’t too crazy (to prepare), just some minor adjustments and we’re here now. I’m ready to get him out of there on Saturday.”

Hawes discussed the matchup with Winn, wanting to get the knockout rather than prove he’s the superior wrestler, what could come next if he were to extend his UFC run to 4-0, and much more.
