UFC vet Austin Arnett challenges Do Gyeom Lee for UAE Warriors title on Oct. 29

The next step in Austin Arnett’s post-UFC run will see him to go for UAE Warriors gold.

Arnett (17-7) is slated to challenge featherweight champion Do Gyeom Lee (8-2) in the co-main event of UAE Warriors 24, which takes place Oct. 29 at Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi.

MMA Junkie verified the matchup with a person close to the situation, who requested anonymity because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Arnett is 1-1 since he made his final UFC appearance in February 2019. “The Golden Boy” won just once in out of four trips to the octagon, but is coming off one of his most spectacular wins to date as he knocked out Daniel Vega at UAE Warriors 18 in March.

If Arnett wants the belt, he’ll have to go through Lee, who attempts to make his second consecutive title defense in the matchup. After claiming the belt in October 2019, Lee made his first defense in July with a first-round TKO of Alexandru Chitoran at UAE Warriors 12.

Arnett will become the second UFC veteran to fight for a belt on the card. Ray Borg challenges Vinicius de Oliveira for bantamweight gold in the event headliner.

Additionally, UFC president Dana White is expected to be in attendance at UAE Warriors 24 to film an episode of his “Dana White’s Lookin’ For A Fight” reality series.
