Melvin Guillard was stopped by fellow UFC veteran Joe Riggs in the BKFC main event last weekend in Billings, Montana, the fourth straight loss for the not-so-young “Assassin,” who dropped to 2-6 as a bare-knuckle boxer.

To make matters worse, the 38 year-old Louisianan suffered a broken orbital in his defeat to “Diesel” and needed surgery immediately after their fight.

“Just found out at 3:15 a.m. I have five fractures in my orbital so I will be having surgery today,” Guillard wrote on social media. “Just wanted to get my fans, friends, and family the news. I’ll be okay, just keep me in your prayers. I’ll be lying if I said I wasn’t a little scared right now, we’ll see what happens.”

Guillard has over 50 professional MMA fights and was once ranked in the Top 10 at 155 pounds. Unfortunately, the wear-and-tear of combat sports, along with his struggles outside the cage, kept “The Young Assassin” from reaching his full potential.

A timeline for Guillard’s recovery has yet to be revealed.
