‘I Don’t Respect You’

Tyson Fury tried — and failed — to make peace with longtime rival Deontay Wilder after their dramatic, back-and-forth WBC heavyweight title fight last weekend in Las Vegas, which ended with “The Gypsy King” putting down “The Bronze Bomber” in the eleventh round.

Rewatch the finish from a ringside fan-cam right here.

“No love, no love,” Wilder insisted.

“Never mind love, there’s respect!” Fury countered. “You got beat fair and square tonight, that’s it, I respect you.”

“I don’t respect you,” Wilder fired back.

“Listen, I never cheated in my life, I played fair and square,” Fury told Wilder’s corner. “He’s got bad hatred towards me and I don’t know why, but let me tell you, he lost like a man tonight, he put me down three times I put him down four. Great heavyweight fight.”

The greatest ever, according to Top Rank CEO Bob Arum.

Fury and Wilder were at odds over whether or not “The Gypsy King” cheated in their previous fights. “The Bronze Bomber” insists he was drugged prior to their 2020 rematch, while also accusing Fury of loading his gloves with illegal objects.

For now, both fighters are expected to go their separate ways.

Heavyweight headliners Dillian Whyte and Oleksandr Usyk are the current leading candidates to face Fury at some point in 2022, while the future of Wilder remains unclear. That said, a comeback fight against Anthony Joshua would make the most sense.

And the most money.
