‘F*cking frustrated’ from injury layoff, Jessica-Rose Clark wants to inflict pain on Joselyn Edwards

LAS VEGAS – Jessica-Rose Clark plans to unleash all her built-up frustration on Joselyn Edwards.

Returning from a more than one-year layoff due to ACL surgery, Clark (10-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC) meets Edwards (10-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) on Saturday on the main card of UFC Fight Night 196.

Clark will make the walk for just the third time in three years. After going through multiple injuries, the 33-year-old Aussie looks to carry on the momentum from her past finish of Sarah Alpar.

“I’m so f*cking frustrated,” Clark told MMA Junkie at UFC Fight Night 196 media day on Wednesday. “Just because obviously I’ve spent most of 2019 on the shelf and then I got injured again in 2020, and I’m just having these year, year-and-half long blocks and it sucks. I’m a full-time athlete, and I can’t even do my job full time.”

She continued, “My goal with every fight probably since I lost to Pannie (Kianzad) – I had a big mindset shift, and my goal with every fight now is just to make it as painful as f*cking possible for the other person. It’s just to be violent, make it bloody, be a dog. That’s it. Typical Australian style is to survive, brawl and be a dog, so that’s my goal. Win or loss, it’s gonna be the worst f*cking night of her life, that’s for sure.”

UFC Fight Night 196 takes place Saturday at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+. To see the full interview with Clark, check out the video above.
