UFC parts ways with light heavyweight Modestas Bukauskas

Just one month after suffering a gruesome knee injury, Modestas Bukauskas is no longer part of the UFC roster.

Bukauskas (11-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) went 1-3 in his octagon tenure, dropping three straight bouts to Jimmy Crute, Michael Oleksiejczuk, and most recently Khalil Rountree at UFC Fight Night 191 in September.

The former Cage Warriors champion was on the receiving end of a fight-ending oblique kick from Rountree, causing him damage that required surgery to repair.

Bukauskas, who also underwent a procedure in his nose to facilitate his breathing, reacted to the news of his release in an Instagram post.

You can’t outwork me, Even on one leg, tell me im not hungry ?! @ufc @jasonkhouse @mickmaynard2 I’ll be back 👊

The 27-year-old Lithuanian-born fighter’s lone UFC win came in his promotional debut, a first-round “Performance of the Night” TKO of Andreas Michailidis in July 2020.
