Dana White: ‘Paulo Costa is a light heavyweight fighter’ | UFC Vegas 41 Video

Paulo Costa entered UFC Vegas 41 fight week ranked No. 2 in the middleweight division. By the end of the week, UFC president Dana White considers Costa a light heavyweight fighter.

Costa was scheduled to face No. 5 ranked Marvin Vettori in a middleweight match in the fight card’s main event. Costa showed up in Las Vegas for fight week and informed the UFC that he wouldn’t be able to make the 186-pound limit for the middleweight division. Both teams agreed to compete at a catchweight of 195 pounds, but the night before the weigh-in the fight was moved to take place in the 205-pound weight class.

Costa lost to Vettori by unanimous decision, but performed well in the fight. During the UFC Vegas 41 Post-fight Press Conference, White address the issues surrounding Costa’s weight and said that he considers the Brazilian to be a light heavyweight fighter now.
