There Will Be Blood!

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz will return to the Octagon to defend his 205-pound title against longtime division contender Glover Teixeira in the UFC 267 main event this Sat. afternoon (Oct. 30) on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.

But unlike most UFC showdowns, Blachowicz will save his bad blood for inside the cage.

“In the morning I meet Glover, say hello. There is no bad blood between us,” Blachowicz said on Episode 1 of the UFC 267 “Embedded” video blog. “Of course when we go to the cage, the Octagon, we need to do our jobs. I hope so in the cage there will be a lot of blood — his blood.”

Blachowicz (28-8) captured the vacant crown by smashing Dominick Reyes at UFC 253 back in late 2020, then scored a successful title defense against middleweight kingpin Israel Adesanya earlier this year. The power punching Pole has won nine of his last 10 with five finishes.

Teixeira (32-7), who turns 42 in just a few days, has rattled off five straight wins in the 205-pound weight class with four of them ending by way of knockout or submission. The Brazilian’s upcoming title fight takes place more than seven years after his first crack at the light heavyweight crown against Jon Jones in early 2014.
