Sounds like UFC 268 may not be Franki Edgar’s final destination.

It doesn’t sound like former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar plans on wrapping up his career against Marlon Vera at UFC 268.

Edgar vs. Vera takes place on the main card pay-per-view (PPV) broadcast of UFC 268, taking place inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York on Sat., Nov. 6. In a new interview, “The Answer” shared the answer to all his problems.

“As soon as I heard we were going to be here before the holidays, I knew I wanted to be on the card,” Edgar told BJPENN.com. “The UFC thought the same so I told them whoever they can get I will fight. They offered me Marlon Vera, which is fine by me as there is no opponent I have my eye on as the only thing I have my eye on is the belt. He’s a dangerous guy and it’s a fight that makes sense.

“This fight could go anywhere. Marlon is a wild card as he is dangerous. But, I just have to be a technical fighter,” Edgar continued. “I’m always ready to go as long as we need it, I have a motor and the cardio to go 15 hard minutes. I’m ready to push the pace and do whatever it takes to win.”

Edgar (24-9-1) has been competing professionally in mixed martial arts (MMA) since 2005. Despite losing three of his last four fights, retirement does not appear to be on Edgar’s mind.

“I don’t really know where it puts me. I just know winning fixes everything and puts you moving up the rankings. I’m just going to reassess where we are at and figure out our next move after the holidays,” he said. “It’s really about whoever the UFC offers as long as I keep moving forward.”

Edgar’s storybook career boasts three successful UFC Lightweight title defenses, three challenges for the UFC Featherweight championship (including one interim title) and three Performance of the Night bonuses. He ties Nate Diaz for most Fight of the Night bonuses in UFC history with eight and has the greatest total fight time in company history at 7:40:51. He holds notable victories against B.J. Penn (three times), Cub Swanson (twice), Yair Rodriguez, Chad Mendes, Urijah Faber, Charles Oliveira, Gray Maynard and Sean Sherk, among many others.
