Maxim Grishin vs. Ed Herman set for UFC 271

A light heavyweight matchup featuring a pair of incredibly experienced veterans is on tap for Feb. 12.

MMA Junkie recently learned from two people with knowledge of the booking that Maxim Grishin and Ed Herman have verbally agreed to face off at the event, which is expected to serve as UFC 271. Those people requested anonymity because the organization has yet to make a formal announcement.

Contracts are expected to be finalized shortly for the contest, with the location yet to be announced.

Grishin (31-9-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) fought most recently in February suffering a decision loss to Dustin Jacoby. The Russian veteran was then linked to a June bout with Ovince Santi Preux, though he was ultimately forced to withdraw from the matchup. He now seeks his second win in the UFC following previous stints in the PFL and M-1 Global, among others.

Meanwhile, Herman (25-15 MMA, 13-11 UFC) has been competing under the UFC banner for 15 years. “The Ultimate Fighter 3” finalist saw action most recently in August, suffering a decision loss to prospect Alonzo Menifield, which snapped a three-fight winning streak for “Short Fuse.”

With the addition to the card, the UFC 271 lineup includes:

  • Alexander Hernandez vs. Renato Moicano
  • Douglas Silva de Andrade vs. Sergey Morozov
  • Mark Madsen vs. Vinc Pichel
  • AJ Dobson vs. Jacob Malkoun
  • Kyler Phillips vs. Marcelo Rojo
  • Roxanne Modafferi vs. Casey O’Neill
