Felicia Spencer happy women’s featherweight division ‘rolling’ after UFC Fight Night 197 win

LAS VEGAS – There aren’t many fighters in the UFC women’s featherweight division, but Felicia Spencer is one of them.

A former title challenger, Spencer (9-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) snapped a two-fight losing skid Saturday when she defeated Leah Letson (5-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) via third-round TKO at UFC Fight Night 197.

“I’m definitely happy to have a finish. It’s been a while,” Spencer said at a post-fight news conference. “I was ready for it. I always hope or expect myself to finish sooner, but I knew Leah was extremely tough, durable, and has heart, so I was ready for a three-round war as much as I don’t want to be in a war. I’d much rather dominate.”

Spencer is excited about what’s on the horizon for the promotion’s least-populated division. As it stands, there are six women who competed at featherweight in their most recent bout, plus former boxer Danyelle Wolf, who has yet to debut in the UFC. As for who or what is next for her, Spencer is unsure.

“I expected to fight Leah at some point, and she’s checked off the list,” Spencer said. “I’m just happy with that performance overall. I’m excited about the division. I’m glad there are things rolling. It’ll be fun to see what happens with the division.”

UFC Fight Night 197 took place Saturday at the UFC Apex. The card streamed on ESPN+.
