13th annual Fighters Only World MMA Awards set for Dec. 10 in Las Vegas

The latest edition of the Fighters Only World MMA Awards is set to take place Dec. 10 at Worre Studios in Las Vegas.

While the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on Fighters Only’s ability to host live events in recent years, company officials promise the upcoming ceremony will be broadcast live, with “celebrities, industry executives, personalities, and a who’s who of fighters” attending the “exclusive, VIP invite only event,” while fans can tune in and attend virtually.

“For the past two years, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it extremely difficult, for a variety of different reasons, to put together a live event of any form,” Fighters Only CEO Rob Hewitt stated. “However, I am proud to say that it has never stopped us from producing the World MMA Awards ceremony to pay tribute to this great sport of ours.

“Last year saw the awards take place in a TV studio setting with no audience in attendance, and I am ecstatic to say that this year we have won our fight and found a solution. We look forward to welcoming our nominees, special guests, and all the stars from our industry back to celebrate in person at the World MMA Awards.”

The December ceremony will honor “the achievements and performances of the people who make the sport what it is during a 12-month period between July 2020 and July 2021.”

“I also look forward to welcoming the fans back in a very unique and special way,” Hewitt stated. “The Worre Studios will allow for MMA fans worldwide to join us virtually in-studio, too. After all, it is the fans who decide who wins, and by giving the ability for those who love MMA from all around the world to be in attendance to watch their winners crowned live, this year’s event will be like no other.”

MMA Junkie (MMA Media Source of the Year) and John Morgan (MMA Journalist of the Year) were among this year’s nominees.
